Introduction

Projects completed and ongoing in this field are increasing rapidly, and the need for qualified personnel to work on these projects is growing day by day. According to the 2020 European strategic report, the number of personnel employed in the field of Software Engineering in European countries is expected to increase approximately fourfold compared with previous years. This is not limited to European countries but applies to all countries around the world. Supporting this view, the Software Developer position ranked first in the list of the best jobs in the world, and it was stated that there are 254 thousand job postings in the United States alone, with an average annual income of approximately 100,000 dollars arising from these postings.

Software Engineering has become one of the most needed fields in our country, as it has throughout the world. In particular, with the concept of Industry 4.0, the production of high-value-added software products has accelerated, and the need for a qualified workforce to work in these areas has also increased. According to the ‘Information and Communication Technologies Sector Market Data Report’ prepared by the Turkish Informatics Industry Association (TÜBİSAD) and published in May 2017, the size of the Information Technologies market was announced as 29.6 billion TL. Compared with the previous year, the highest growth, at 16.3 percent, occurred in the software category. Our total exports in the software sector increased by 41 percent compared with last year and reached 2.041 billion TL. It was stated that, within the framework of the Medium-Term Program (MTP), which is prepared every year by the Ministry of Development with a 3-year perspective and was published at the end of September 2017, the aim is to spread high-value-added production, and that priority is given to the fields of cloud computing, big data, digital games, mobile applications and security in R&D, international expansion and clustering support and investments for the software sector. All of these data indicate that the software sector in our country is one of the fastest-growing sectors and has a very high need for employment.
